Natura Avalanche Safety Workshop

Hi members of natura! For this first event of the semester, we are having an avalanche safety workshop where you will learn about risks and decision making to travel safely through the backcountry. With a theoretical and practical teaching, the instructors specialized in this field will give you knowledge about avalanche safety and assessment of conditions.
Participants have to be able to move with skis, snowboard or snow shoes.

This workshop will be divided in 2 phases :
1) The theoretical part will take place on Wednesday 29th of January, at Volda University College (the exact location is yet to be decided) from 18:00 to 20:00
2) The practical part will be Saturday 1st AND Sunday 2nd of February, from 9:00 to 15:00 both days. Information for the location of the trip will be provided on wednesday evening. (near by Volda Depending on snow conditions, between 15 and 30 minutes driving)
ATTENTION: The practical part is only open for those who have attended the theory course on Wednesday.
TRANSPORTATION: Since we will be driving from Volda on each morning in the week-end, we won’t need any accomodation.
APPOINTMENT: For Saturday and Sunday, cars will leave the university at 9am sharp. Please be there 15 min before. Meeting at BK entrance.
WHAT TO BRING: Volda University can loan the technical avalanche equipment. Bring lunch, your warm clothes (like ski clothes) a backpack. Bring snowshoes/skis/snowboard if you have, otherwise you will borrow them from Natura.
PRICE : The course is free but you will only have to pay the gas for the drivers and the natura membership fee if you haven’t paid it yet (150nok)
APPLICATION: The number of people for this event is limited depending on the number of seats in the cars we will have. Please fill in this form as soon as possible to be sure to have a place. A waiting list system will be established if too many people apply.
